In 2023, we were engaged to deliver a major lighting upgrade for the Nimbin Headers soccer fields. The project was designed to transform the facility into a safe, compliant, and energy-efficient venue that could be used well into the evening for both training sessions and competitive matches. Our goal was to provide a modern lighting solution that met industry standards while delivering lasting benefits for the community. The scope of works included:
Lighting Design & Compliance: Development of a lighting plan to meet the required lux levels and uniformity standards for evening training and match play, in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and sporting body guidelines.
Pole & Fixture Installation: Supply and installation of 18.3metre lighting poles fitted with energy-efficient LED floodlights, engineered for optimal coverage and minimal glare.
Electrical Works: Trenching, cabling, and connection of the lighting system to the main electrical supply, including switchboards, controls, and protective devices.
Energy Efficiency: Use of modern LED technology to ensure reduced power consumption, lower maintenance requirements, and long-term operational savings.
Safety & Community Benefit: Installation completed with full consideration for player safety, spectator comfort, and surrounding residents through careful light spill management.
The result is a professional-grade lighting system that enhances both the safety and enjoyment of soccer in Nimbin. Players now benefit from well-lit fields that support peak performance, while spectators enjoy a more comfortable viewing experience. Most importantly, the local community has gained a high-quality sporting facility that can be used year-round, increasing participation and access to evening sport.
